Website Costs
What makes a website?
- A domain name (like trulytexan.com). This is paid annually to a registrar. We are a reseller for Wild West Domains (GoDaddy) and you can register a domain name for less than $9/year
- Monthly hosting. The cost of having the website residing on a server (a computer connected to the internet) and available to the public. Hosting costs range from about $5/month to hundreds of dollars a month, depending on your needs. Shopping cart sites usually start at around $45/month.
- Shopping cart software if you have an e-commerce website. This is paid to the software company for the right to install their software on your website. Most such companies also offer annual "support" plans so you can download updates (usually bug fixes) and ask questions for free. We advise investing in such plans.
- SSL certificate. This is purchased from a security "authority" and is installed on your website so that your customers' information is encrypted when it's sent from their computer to the server. Costs range from $39.95/year (our basic version) and up. For most ecommerce websites, the basic SSL certificate is more than adequate. There are some situations where you won't need this.
- Website management. If you need to change a picture, text, add a page, fix a broken page, etc., someone has to do it. That can be you if you have the software and know how to do it and want to spend your time on it. Or, ideally, you'll pay us to do it.
